Cork dentist Seamus Ryan has taken the scenic route to taking over his own practice in his native city. Having completed dentistry in UCC in 2009 Seamus went on to complete vocational training in Edinburgh. This enabled him to complete the membership of the faculty of dental surgery in the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.
Having completed his studies in Edinburgh Seamus moved to general practice. Seamus brings with him an ample amount of experience having worked for many years in several practices in Scotland, Essex and in Cork.
Never one to rest on his laurels and ever committed to continued professional development, Seamus has completed several courses in both the UK and Ireland. Course topics including –
- short-term orthodontics
- aesthetic dentistry
- facial aesthetics
- endodontics
- oral surgery
This continued commitment to upskilling and further education has enabled Seamus to give thorough treatment options and complete treatments to a very high standard.
When it came to taking over a practice Seamus was always going to join the realm of Cork Dentists. In early 2019 Seamus took over as principal dentist at Shandon Dental and hasn’t looked back since. He has brought a wealth of experience with him to aid both current and new patients.
Away from dentistry, Seamus is a keen rugby fan and has been a Munster season ticket holder for several years. He is also a keen runner having completed the Cork half marathon in both 2018 and 2019, and avid hill climber having gone to both Everest base camp, summiting Mount Kilimanjaro, completing the Irish four peaks challenge in less than 48hrs and a gym lover into strength and conditioning.
